Vans, the iconic California footwear giant, is set to surpass its fans expectations again by announcing its collaboration with multi-platinum group, Pearl Jam. This limited edition collection is available now onwards.
Marking Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary since its formation, the Vans Pearl Jam Sk8-Hi collaboration is being released with a lot of pride as these musicians are also avid skaters and long time Vans supporters.
Pearl Jam is one of the great cornerstone bands of the ever-influential grunge movement. Since their first album, Ten, was released in 1991, they have proven to have the musical staying power only claimed by rock and roll legends. Their uncompromising attitude against the music establishment, passion for board sports and the fact that they have worn Vans forever were reasons for this Vans collection, one of Vans’ coolest music projects to date.
“I started wearing Vans when I was about 12 years old, when I started skating,” said Jeff Ament, Pearl Jam’s bassist, “so the idea of actually doing a collaboration with Vans was pretty exciting. Feels like it has been 12-15 years in the works.”
The upcoming Vans Pearl Jam Sk8-Hi collaboration will be coming into Malaysia in two different designs. One will be in the classic Grunge Flannel and Black, marking Pearl Jam as one of the key bands in the grunge movement. The other is set to come in Kelly Green and Golden Yellow, a tribute to the now defunct NBA basketball team of the state Pearl Jam was formed, the Seattle Supersonics. This collection is offered in adult sizing, suitable for both men and women.
“Vans and Pearl Jam are like a match made in heaven! I am excited to be seeing this collaboration come into Malaysia, coming in both dark and bright colours,” said Emilia, Brand Manager of Vans Malaysia, “The designs and colors will definitely appeal to our Vans supporters, and all music enthusiasts.”
The retail prices for the Vans Pearl Jam Sk8-Hi collaboration is at RM299.00 for the Vans Sk8-Hi Black/Flannel and Vans Sk8-Hi Kelly Green/Golden Yellow – RM329.00.
This collection will be available at all Studio R, Stadium and Vans boutiques in Malaysia.
