- In honor of the TRON: Legacy premiere, members of ENESS (Interactive designers based in Australia) created an amazing interactive half-pipe to bring skateboarding to the grid / future. The riders utilized an iPod and ENESS’ custom-built app to measure air-time and trigger visual graphics upon the ramp’s surface.Made to look like a fantastical Tron world, the illuminated skate ramps (fabricated from steel to support a floating platform) are absolutely epic. Watch the video below to see the ENESS skaters take the premiere by storm with their sci-fi skateboarding.Skateboarding has to do with Tron? The answer is nothing, just as most skateboard demos at Seaworld, Six Flags, or halftime displays at professional football games. The last video below was 3 years back of Tony Hawk doing Tron Promo commercial "I am Sci-Fi"via Skate and Annoy

Here's another one about longboarding long distance (distance skateboarding) adventure charity.
From the love of longboarding and the passion of adventure travel, Skateventure was born.
On January 2011, Troy Bilbrough & Huw John are skating 3200km across Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Their mission & journey is for the benefit of Canteen New Zealand, which supports teenagers and their families who are living with cancer.
Skateventure will begin their journey on January 15 2011, in Pai Mae Hong Son; Northern Thailand. Then from Phuket they will be skating down the west coast towards Malaysia; and enter Malaysia through road 4184 and longboard down the western coast towards Kuala Lumpur and end in Singapore.
They have plan to skate the smaller roads as is it is illegal to skate on the highways in Malaysia. While in Malaysia, they will meet up with The Longboarders Guild and the Malaya Street Bombers and skate some of the local spots. They might drop by at Wheel Love Skateshop too.
Read more about them on their web!

In the summer of 2006 a lone British longboarder, Dave Cornthwaite, has pushed off from Perth, Australia, with a world record 6,000 km of coastal road stretching ahead towards his final destination, Brisbane for charity.
Early 2010, Swedish couple Jim Petersson and Maria Larsson went to skate about 4000km from Chiang Mai (Thailand) down to Singapore (passing thru Malaysia thru East Coast route) to raise funds for the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Read all their journey here at MrJimp Blogspot, or Mr Jim On Longboard Blog or MrJimonLongboard and tons of photos here on facebook.
They also featured on The Star on 6th Feb 2010 and a couple of other newspaper in Thai on Phuket Gazette, another one here and here.
Another Skate A Thon is coming on January 2011. Watch out for Skate Venture (tomorrow)!!!
Remember Children of Bodom (COB) X Cole Zero skateboards last year. Well they are working out together again.
This time COB just wrapped shooting on a high energy music video for the brand new song “Was It Worth It?”. In the video, COB joined forces with two-time X Games gold medalist and two-time Thrasher Magazine “Skater of the Year” Chris Cole as well as noted pro skaters Jamie Thomas and Tom Asta (the current #1 Amateur skateboarder in the world). “Was it Worth It?” will appear on Children of Bodom’s as-yet-untitled seventh studio album, which is slated for a spring, 2011 release via Universal Music.
Filmed on location at central Pennsylvania’s residential Action Sports compound Camp Woodward and directed by Dale Resteghini for Raging Nation Films (Pink Floyd, Santana, Mötley Crüe), the “Was it Worth It?” video was shot guerrilla style, sans treatment; honing in directly on Children of Bodom’s high-spirited fire and the skaters’ eye-opening execution.

In 1984, The Bones Brigade video show was released. Once you went through the trouble of finding somewhere that you could spend the $30 bucks to buy it, you had to find someone who had a VCR to let you watch it with. But once you saw it, you would see skateboarding in a totally different light. Other important Bones Brigade videos were Future Primitive and The Search for Animal Chin. The Bones Brigade was made up of different personalities and different styles and they dominated skateboarding both on vert and street in the early to mid-eighties. Why it took so long to create a documentary on the interesting creation and ending of the Bones Brigade is strange, especially with all the hype on the Dogtown skateboard scene a few years ago. Like Dogtown, Powell Peralta were masters of imagery and marketing - the signature style and intense detail of the Vernon Courtland Johnson deck, t-shirt, and sticker graphics are highly collected and are still the benchmark for what skate art can be today. Not too many skate crews have had an impact like the original Bones Brigade.
Beginning in February of 2011, legendary skateboarders Stacy Peralta, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, MIke McGill, Lance Mountain and Tommy Guerrero will be working on a Bones Brigade documentary film. If you haven’t seen Stacy's Crips and Bloods doco, you definitely should. Plus other such Dogtown and the Z-Boys, Riding Giants and more.
On November 29th, these seven influential guys got together and sat down at Los Angeles International Airport, to discuss work on a documentary of their experience as skaters.
Simultaneously, a Powell-Peralta coffee table book is in the works. It will include the Bones Brigade, but also other things you knew and didn’t know about Powell-Peralta.
Check out the link to read more on this important time in skateboarding progression.

Ehren Bienert is a sculptor who used to work for McFarlane Toys. He’s also a skater, and for the past three years or so he’s been sculpting some skateboarding personalities. His work is pretty amazing. He even makes the boards himself. He sculpts them in wax first, and makes a mold for a plastic resin cast. Check out Sculpt or Die.
