LSP LONGBOARD FEST!!!

To all longboarders. Here's the details for this Sunday event @ Sengkang Riverside Park, Singapore. Source from Love Skatepark web.

***LSP will be closed as they will be at the event***

Date: SUNDAY, AUGUST 8th 2010
Time: 10am-3pm-ish
Main Event : Individual Time Trial

- Take turns to record your fastest time.

- 5 Fastest individuals will win store vouchers worth $500, $400, $300, $200 and $100 respectively.

This is a great opportunity to check out what longboarding is about, the park has many paths and you can try out some boards or hug a tree or whatever, and even if you are a street skater and think longboarding is silly but you are secretly curious, you should come and try it out for yourself, its super fun!

Above is the map for the Time Trial (click them for larger view), basically they will make a timer activated by strips, and everyone takes turns to do the run. The time starts and stops when the longboard runs over the strips, 5 fastest individuals will win stuff!

The number of runs you can take will depend on how many people participate and how much time they have, but after your run, you can queue up again for another try at the back of the line.

Rules:
1) Helmet compulsory.
2) No pushing in between the start and finish lines.
3) Be nice, spread the stoke!
4) It’s still on even if it rains, just make sure you oil your bearings after.
5) Keep the place clean so that NParks will continue letting us use their parks!

Tips:
Gripping the corner is the fastest way around so wheels like Big Zigs are good. They suggest the fastest way would be to go super fast down the start then predrift/footbrake at the right bend so you can still grip around the left corner. Top 5 time would be under 22 seconds.

If you dont have a board you can use theirs, its a rayne isis with gunmetal double barrel trucks and lime bigzigs.

here is a video guide of the course:

The corner is the trickiest bit, and the curb is pretty sharp so its best to wear pads while practicing, also look out for other park users, skate safe and have fun!
