This year's Vans presents Go Skateboarding Day was held at the Standard Chartered KL Park on 21 June 2014 and saw a large crowd of about 500 coming together to celebrate skateboarding! Thanks to all of the sponsors for the support!

(Kuala Lumpur) June 21, 2014 - Vans is proud to be at the helm of a successful Go Skateboarding Day celebration at Standard Chartered KL Park last Saturday! An excited crowd of about 500 persons, from the very young to the young at heart gathered at the park for this annual event to celebrate their love for skateboarding. Kids as young as 12 years old, teenagers and adults were seen skating around the event area, some of them even came from other states or neighboring countries like Indonesia and Singapore, to enjoy their day with the rest of the skateboarding community here in KL.

This year, Vans partnered with Standard Chartered to host the Vans presents Go Skateboarding Day celebrations which was jointly celebrated on the same day with the rest of Vans APAC. Local skate brands were also invited to open booths during the event, so they could sell their products and most importantly introduce their brand to the local skateboarding community. Local skate brands that opened a booth during the event include Wheelove, Showroom, Sibling, Bind Skate Co, Weakend Co, Momentai, Papan and Hellbent.

Who: Skateboarders and Vans enthusiasts from all over Malaysia as well as Indonesia and Singapore.

Get everyone to gather at Dataran DBKL from after Subur prayers and wait for others till 8 am (latest). Then get someone older or experienced to guide the route. Skate safe people. Insya Allah

LETS SKATEBOARDING ON CAR-FREE DAY

After Popper Mag & Siblings Skateboards did their pilot Car Crasher event in-conjunction of Carbon Free Sunday on February 2013. Jakarta city did their pilot Car Fee Days on 2007 and officially doing it every Sunday since May 2012. Finally The KL City Hall decided to have it every first week Sunday of every month. Check out the news HERE

"This event will start at 7.30am and end about 9:30am, after which all the above roads,
except Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rah-man, will be open to the public.
The Car-Free Morning Criterium loop, which will be a full closure, will cover Jalan Raja Laut from the junction of Jalan Parlimen into Jalan Semarang followed by Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak and back into Jalan Raja Laut. The start and finish line is opposite Menara DBKL 1.
These roads will be closed from 7.30am to 9.30am."

It's not a death metal band, an extreme diet club or historic dominoes association—the Bones Brigade was a talented gang of teenage outcasts. Unmotivated by fame or popularity, they completely dedicated their lives to a disrespected art form. For most of the 1980s, this misfit crew headed by a 1970s ex-skateboard champion blasted the industry with a mixture of art and raw talent becoming the most popular skateboarding team in history. The core unit of the Bones Brigade built an empire that covered the world. They dominated contests, made hundreds of thousands of dollars, created the modern skateboard video, reinvented endemic advertising, pushed skate progression into a new era, and set the stage for a totally new form of skating called street style.
