When she first started out, she used to skate once a month, but her interest got her skating on a weekly basis. “It eventually turned into a daily affair,” she says. Currently pursuing her foundation in science at the Perak Matriculation College, Fiona finds time over the weekend, or whenever she returns to Kuala Lumpur, to skate. -

MALAYSIA TO HOST FISE WORLD SERIES

MALAYSIA Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture played a pivotal role in winning a highly competitive global bid for the country.

Malaysia will be the first in Asia to host the prestigious Festival International Sport Extreme (FISE) World Series for three years in a row from 2014-2016 after almost one year of rigorous lobbying and bidding.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia, said, “I would like to congratulate Malaysia Major Events in collaboration with MARS to secure the bid for FISE World Series to be hosted in Melaka. The synergy between sports tourism and our UNESCO heritage destination – Melaka will highlight the best aspect of what Malaysia has to offer in terms of extreme sports and tourism experience. Malaysia will become the first country in Aisa to host FISE in its World Series stage after winning the bid against 18 other countries. This is truly going to eb a memorable and historic occasion for us all,”.

The Minister of Tourism and Culture was present together with Honourable Nicole Bricq, Minister of Foreign Trade of France, to grace the signing ceremony today between the rights owner of FISE World Series Hurricane Action Sports Company of France and MARS.

Once again extreme sports were covered in The Star today in Youth 2 pull out section TODAY. Getting in the story behind of the lacks of recognition in the sports with various extreme sport atheletes. The articles today were published due to the previous interview with our editor, Adlan aka Boy Ipoh who mentioned this "It's a bit sad that some of our skateboaders are unable to secure sponsors to compete internationally. We have a lot of pro skateboarders but they are not recognised.....". The STAR then requested to interview more people in various extreme sports on this matter. So Boy gave them their contacts number and this includes ESAM.
