Date: Fri, 1 Jan 2010
Venue: Taman Metropolitan Kepong
Time: 9:30 - 12:00
Where to meet: TMK carpark, front entrance
Description: TMK is suitable for beginners to get their first taste of downhill in a safe controlled environment. The track goes around a lake. There are 2 short DH sections at 200 m each. Max speeds are 44 km/h. Non-technical. The rest of the track is pretty flat which is good for cruising. Nice surroundings as it is a public park, with the Kuala Lumpur city skyline visible not far away.
Date: Fri, 1 Jan 2010
Venue: Janda Baik
Time: 15:00 - 18:00
Where to meet: Genting Sempah rest area (along Karak highway, on the way to Genting Highlands)
Description: Janda Baik is a nice 3.6 km run for the aspiring beginners to take their DH obsessions onto a real road. Traffic is minimal, being out in the middle of nowhere (jungle). Dogs and monkeys are roaming about sometimes. Max speeds are 75 km/h (street luge), 70 km/h (classic luge), 55-65 km/h (downhill skateboard). The top half is VERY rough with lots of turns, whereas the bottom half is much smoother with less turns, but speed picks up fast at the very end.
2 more session on Saturday and Sunday. Will be updating by tomorrow night

the road we skate at janda baik isn't very fast and there is plenty of visibility so no blind spots. you can see those scary trucks coming a mile away!
we had no problems today in fact the weather was just nice and there weren't alot of cars/trucks. if you're a beginner looking to get into dh this is the place to start!
