Skateboard Dreams (TheStar Youth)

AS THE sun goes down on the horizon, the young skateboarders at Shah Alam Extreme Park fly higher and higher up the mini bowl. No one seems to be afraid of falling off the vertical sides of the bowl-shaped ramp; in fact every tumble is followed by roars of laughter. The fallen skateboarder himself laughs along, after a quick grimace, of course. He then picks up his skateboard and the cycle continues.

KEIRON IN TRANSLATIONS DVD

Visual Travelling is proud to present you its first big project, TRANSLATIONS (check out the previous post). Patrick Wallner has gone to a couple of different places around the world with some (Pros & Ams) Americans, Germans, French, and Swedes featuring Daniel Hocman, Malcom Tallgard, Max Beinhofer, Samual Beyer, , Nolan Lee, Patrick Boes and many more. Patrik has been on the road for this video for over a year and a half, non-stop from States, to Europe (Poland, Morocco, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany) to Asia (Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Korea and offcourse Malaysia). No big budget, no tour bus, only bowls of rice and mopeds.

I got this DVD more than a month ago and I was so impressed by it that I wrote a review. We never published it because Gary felt I wrote wayyy too much and gave away too many spoilers...I then lent the DVD to Gary and his reaction was, “OMG we need to sell this!” Anyway, we managed to secure some of last remaining prints for our online store, and I finally got around to shortening my review and have removed most of the spoilers so Gary won’t throw a hissy fit. > read more here...

FISHBONE SKATESHOP FRIENDS & FAMILY REUNION

Anyone still remember FISHBONE (not the funk band) Skateshop? We bet most of you never heard of it. FISHBONE are one of the famous skateshop in KL back then. A spot for teenagers to hang out with friends and their love ones. After 15 years, one of the owner family members organized a reunion gathering at Hard Rock Cafe 2 days ago. About more than 20 families and friends were gathered in this most memorable day (Mostly have kids already). Sorry to Kak Fatin and Linda that we can't make it there. Maybe next time. TIGA SEGI?? NOPE IT'S TRIANGLE!!!

Triangle Sk8 Team is consist of 3 brothers from Kajang; Arina Fikri, Fairuzal Hamid and Izzul Yusof. They are very good in transitions and ramps. They appeared in many tv programmes and also in local tv commercials. Arina also has competed in the Asian X Games in the vert category last year. Currently they are sponsored by Kamikaze, Black Brigade and also owned their own signature skateboards; Triangle skateboard. Our Australian vert pro skater friend; Dave Bodnar finally married wih Fara Faisal at Le Meredian Hotel, Bangsar November last year (2008). Suprisingly we just knew about this. Heard Jake Brown (USA vert pro skater) was his best man during the wedding in KL. Congrats bro!!!

OLD SCHOOL SKATER MARRIED

Congratulations to both newly weds; Calvin Teh and his bride Evelyn Ng. Calvin is an old school skateboarder who used to won in the legendary Lot 10 Isetan Skate Competition back in 1992/93. His brother Eddie was also a skateboarder too. We think some of you (Adrian Ho, Kevin Long, etc) out there might remember his brother. Calvin still skate sometimes during his free time with our old friend Ben. Congratulations and Happy New Year!!!
