Ok it's on and check all the details below. Just one thing that concern us is the judges. We were informed that Crazeecausa will have their guys to do the judging. Well it doesn't matter who they are as long they know about BOWL / POOL skateboarding tricks and difficulties. Have experience in judging and also has been in the skate scene for many years and well known to the skaters within the scene. Well let just see what's gonna happen this Sunday. GOOD LUCK!!!

R.I.P - A SKATER & ACTOR

Well this is a shocking news when i saw it on E-News on astro a month ago. You may heard that Actor Heath Ledger died on an apparent sleeping pill overdose. This 28 years old actor portrayed of Skip Engblom was pretty much the highlight of The Lords of Dogtown in the dramatic version of Peralta's Dogtown documentary. The point here is Heath are not played a skater in the movies, but played with skateboards in real life too, as seen in the two shots at the bottom right from Hellomagazine.com. Rest in Peace bro...

SKATE COMP @ SHAH ALAM 2008

Yes it's gonna happen on the 1st week of March 2008. So guys / gals please be prepared. This is the 1st skate contest for year 2008 (year of the RAT). I'm not sure which side of the park (bowl, pool or street) but just watch this space back ok? Skate RAD not MAD!

POLICE BRUTALITY CAUGHT ON VIDEO - NEW

This time we are over in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) where we get to watch a “cop” completely overreact. The kids are skating in an area where it is forbidden but a warning or just asked them to leave will just do. Why must act in such a behavior? Such attitude makes more people hate cops for no reason. Wow this is kind of shocking.We didn't hear anything from anyone about this. I've just found out that Hikers Climber Adventure Team Sdn. Bhd & MBSA is having some activities and programs today. They offer activities such as T.I.P.S (Team Initiative Problem Solving Games); Classes and clinics (Climbing, Bike, Paint Ball, Skate Board); Leadership & Training Program / Talk; Management Games and all these includes accomodations (camping), meals, cerificates, clinics / workshop from experienced coach and more.

If you read in our forum again, i did wrote that i've wanted to see Jocke Olsson at Quiksilver event. I think he was among the most well known vert skater compared to the others who were on that day. Speaking of Jocke, the first thing in mind was the old skate video that i've seen many years back called "Spirit of the Blitz" from Deathbox. Jocke had a part in it and i think you guys / gals should check it out (above).

Deathbox may not popular to some of you but if you happens to skate back in the late 80's or early 90's then maybe you might bought or came across with RAD magazine (UK well known skate mag back then). Deathbox ads or Jocke photos were in the mag. Anyway, Deathbox was very popular then and now too coz now they were famously known as Flip Skateboards after they moved in the States back in 1994. It seems we have a old time pro vert skater in town. Now is your chances to learn the basics for mini ramp and vert. Good news is, Jocke will be staying here till April or maybe longer. He loves it here....

NARUL GOES BOLLYWOOD COMMERCIAL

Last Saturday morning, our friend Narul was hired to do a stunt double for the Indian Bollywood actor "Greek God" Hrithik Roshan in CINTHOL tv commercial. The shoot was taken at Maju Junction Mall and Narul was asked to do some stunts jumping over a super bike from a bank launcher. Cinthol is a skincare product from India and so was the commercial. KENNY REED & RUSSIAN SKATERS IN KL!!!!

We have visitors here today. They were all from Russia and arrived KL yesterday after visit Thailand. There's 6 of them and 1 of them were Kenny Reed aka The Traveller, USA pro (see pic above), ex-Popwar pro now rides for Rasa Libre, Earth, I-Path, Satori Movement, FKD and Destructo. Maybe you might seen him in some well known skate videos such as Static 2, FKD the video, New Deal 7 Year Glitch or the old Real or Zoo York videos. Also plus 3 Russian pros sponsored by Globe, Mystery and Fallen and they were here for some video / photo shoot by Skatemedia Production. Our local pro Kieron are with them now (tonight) for some street skating and they will meet us tomorrow for another street skating session elsewhere. BURTON ACQUIRES ALIEN WORKSHOP & HABITAT

This suprised me a little. How come a big skateboard company who has run for many years wth good business was being bought by a snowboard company? Hell yes guys, on 5th Feb 2008, DNA Distribution who runs Alien Workshop, Habitat Skateboards and Reflex bearings are now sold to another boardsport company; Burton Snowboards. I know that Burton's main focus is action sports and they do dabble into street wear and skate shoes, but I don't know if I like them taking over the world of skateboarding like this. That's not to say that Burton is not a good company or that buy outs are either bad or good, it's just that it appears that there is a disdain that grows amongst snowboarders in comparison to skateboarders. I hope this won't happend to others skateboard company in the future.

STREETHING "ALL IN THE FAMILY" EVENT

Streething is having a big-o-party at Zouk next week on 16th Feb 2008 starting 6.30pm onwards. Many artist from all over the worlds includes graffiti installation by The Killer Gerbil (SG) and Darbotz (INA); a streewear fashion show, live sketching showcase by renowned artist Dave White (UK); rare toys and art exhibition put out by the Sole Obsession group; music performed by DJ Blink, DJ X.U. and MC Vandal. Also not to forget our Skateboard demo / session.
